What is Lucky Dragon?

Great Britain’s gambling industry generated £17.5 billion ($23.4 billion) in gross gambling yield (GGY) during FY2026, a 4.4% increase from the previous year.

Excluding lotteries, the Gambling Commission reported that GGY rose 4.7% to £13.2 billion ($17.7 billion) between April 2025 and March 2026.

Growth was strongest online, where remote casino, betting, and bingo GGY climbed 6.9% to £8.3 billion ($11.1 billion), compared with a modest 1.1% increase across land-based sectors.

What is Lucky Dragon?

The regulator noted that several operators received “additional points for attention”, indicating that while these applicants met minimum legal thresholds, the KSA expected continuous improvements in compliance practices.

In June, one of the operators, TOTO online BV, was reported for violating the ban on featuring role models in advertising materials.

This was not the first time TOTO has been in trouble with KSA. The platform was fined in 2022 for a similar endeavour – gambling advertisements that were seemingly aimed at young people.   

How to play Lucky Dragon

Rather than simply building what is requested, teams are increasingly expected to understand why something is being built and what value it should create.

As Paul Crisp, Cubeia’s head of marketing, points out: “If the objective is 10% more traffic, for example, how do we measure it?

“We need to establish a baseline, implement the change, measure it and see whether it goes up by 10%. If it only goes up by 1%, maybe we need another iteration because we haven’t fulfilled the objective.”
